In the middle nineties French architect Lucas Guessard, with a strong experience in sailing and boat design, built his 35’ trimaran “Guará” in Brazil .
With his brother Frank, Luc navigated for 8 months around the Caribbean and started a Day-Charter business in Luperon on the north coast of the Dominican Republic.
In 1998 Luc opens a small boat yard at the marina which is owned by his friend Lenin Fernandez. In 2002 a team is organized and they start building 30’ fiber-glass catamarans for the two biggest diving companies of the island. AventuraBoats, the first commercial catamaran production builder of the Caribbean is born.
The yard moves to La Culebra in 2006 In its new facilities and starts the construction of a 42’mold for a ferry boat in Samaná. Soon, to build lighter and stronger boats, the 2 hulls and the platform are built in one piece and In addition, floors are done with honeycomb sandwich. The 36’ is the first model of this new generation followed by the 42’, 31’and 30’-one new model is introduced per year.
In 2012 Why Not, our 60th boat and first sailing Day-Charter is launched.
